God is there for you, and has done an amazing work on the cross to redeem you from the sin that stains all of us from birth. Beyond that He calls us to get to know Him, and to do so by spending time with Him in prayer, reading the Bible and learning more about what instruction it gives us to live by. (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth is one acronym I heard for the Word decades ago) With the blessing of the "internets" the doors are blown off all the offices of pastors and lay-pastors around the world. In the weblogs you can find teachings that will sharpen intellect and bolster faith, as well as interesting developments amongst the different perspectives that post their outlook. (Of course I've provided examples of some I peruse regularly If you click on and follow the underlined blue words found in this post).

Any comments are welcome, I'd love to read what you've been blessed by on the 'nets.

~e

Great blog, great post...

I've got to apologize to all of you (however few) for my lack of posting. "episode one"

From time to time as a "schooled" filmgoer I'm enchanted by the lines dreamt-up by those who penned them, and then how they are delivered by the character. Depending on the film, it's genre, and the type of audience they're aiming for, character-development can mean everything to the impact of the written word spoken. Not to say the actor's "skilz" don't matter, as I've seen decent actors get hammered by a bad movie, and the opposite (Streep) as well where the actor did well with what he had been given to memorize "act". That being said the script is everything, and bonus points go to actors who can ad-lib the changes necessary (in their minds) to better suit the scene/character.
With all that said, it brings me to today's quote. I found Wikiquote today and thought, hmmm... "do they have Ms. Wilson in there from Gosford Park?" They didn't then, but they do now as I've entered it for the rest of the wiki gawkers to admire. Gosford Park is one of many films I've bought as a result of enjoying it so much. To understand the full impact of these words as uttered by Ms. Wilson (played magnificently by Helen Mirren As I know you've got a Netflix account you never use, here it is at NETFLIX for you to queue as you really should see the flickie. Anyhoot, here's the verbage:

"What gift do you think a good servant has
that separates them from the others?
It's the gift of anticipation.
And I'm a good servant.
I'm better than good.
I'm the best.
I'm the perfect servant.
I know when they'll be hungry and the food is ready.
I know when they'll be tired and the bed is turned down.
I know it before they know it themselves."
-Ms. Wilson

More cool quotes eventually to follow. I've traveled out of the local area for a couple of days, almost been hit by a ignorant driver 2x in the metro area, and had a "wonderful" time attempting to straighten-out some things for some accounts of mine. The kind of days that make you wish for a trip to one of those Corona ads, leaving the yellow beer to someone else.
Frustration is not my friend, and unfortunately in these experiences I've had the past week or so we've met often. I hate this creature that often rouses me uncomfortably out of the semi-peaceful existance I try to maintain, and have been praying about how I can meet and address the source within myself - rather than just give a topical balm to the symptoms.

In the marriage counselling my wife and I went through we discussed this very thing: EXPECTATIONS. When we plan our day and set it in virtual concrete because "that's the way it works best" to us, and the smallest intrusion or change that comes up and adds too-much water to your concrete as it's setting up, your "perfect" path of a day is no longer perfect. IT's never going to set-up as you planned, and how you react to this says a lot about how you deal with expectations not being met. Obviously I've set concrete, and in the area of my expectations I've gotten way-too-easily frustrated when my expectations aren't met. You feel me? Comprende?

I've searched the resources-Biblical on the internet, and keep not-finding exactly what I want to find, (no expectation here!). The wise-words of Solomon hyperlinked above and here keep seeming to apply and speak to me in this quest to reset my "concrete-skills". In the area of my stupid expections, i need to move beyond, rise above, make allowances for things to not be as I planned. This post is starting to look/sound similar to my memory of my Trust post, from March 20. IN OTHER WORDS it's still about trusting God. He has His purposes to be accomplished for me, even when things don't add up like I had planned/figured. The idea is to set my plans for the day, commit those "works" to HIM in my quiet-time with Him and His Word, and watch to see His purpose revealed in my day as He sets the gears in motion.

Lessons in life don't come easy sometimes, glad this lesson isn't as much "train-wreck" as it other lessons have been.

Praise God.
~E

Pictures to follow...

Hello Dear Reader,

Have been quite busy lately, and while I could have posted something, I put it off until I really could afford the time spent doing. Right now i have a few minutes where nothing else is as necessary so here's a sampler of what I've been up to, in the case you're wondering.

May 16-17-18: Was in San Diego for a sales meeting, had an awesome time with my "brother" Steve on the shores as well as motivated proper by the management to do a better job in my territory.

May 25-29: Drove to Blair with a 2-month-old. I wouldn't advise that to even my least-favorite as what would take a couple of people just 8-hours of driving from Colorado Springs to Blair, took 14 hours. Definately rough, but really great to see our friends gettin' married. I was the videographer, so eventually I'll figure how to link a little footage here for you.

June 3: Participated in the Diabetes organization's Tour De Cure fundraiser bicycle ride. 22 miles in 75 minutes and raised +/- $350 for the cause. Thanks to all who read this that contributed, Diabetes will be cured someday thanks to you.

NOW: In Amarillo Texas overnight, last night was in Dalhart TX, both for work. Dalhart is one cowsy-town... Must of been 5-1 ratio of cows to people: stinkeroo! This morning I captured some footage of the Cadillac Ranch installation that I'll upload to here for your glazies to gawk at. Pretty cool stuff from the Ant Farm collective that brought us The Eternal Frame and Media Burn. Here's another cool link for the Ant Farm folks. for your glazies, MEDIA BURN
a great non-narrative indie flick I studied in school.
Eventually I'll post my personal non-narrative stuff for you to enjoy.

~Ethan

Sorry for no new posts...

Since the 16th I've had a really busy month. As with most people, I get busy and the "priorities" play a pivital role in what I spend my time on. I've much to report, much to show via pictures, and much to say regarding what God has been placing on my heart of late. Eventually dear reader, I'll be able to spend the time that would take to share it here. I'm not giving in or throwing in the towel, so don't worry about that, just trying to keep on top of things of greater importance that directly tie into silly concerns like income and such.

~E

Trippin' again...

All this travel, all the time!

Tomorrow (or is it later today?) I've been stumbling the last dozen or so times I've been online, to kill time as I wait for apps to open, or commercials on the tele to end. Here are a few interesting links for you to check out from my travels around the "internets".

I've been thinking about ways I can find out more about you dear reader. As I rarely read your posted comments, I wonder if anyone really ever reads this silly blog. Should I ask 20 questions that you can answer via commenting?

I've been experiencing a bothersome level of spiritual attack lately, if you'd be so kind as to consider me in your quiet-time with God I'd appreciate it. Being a guy hoovers sometimes, not to say that women have it any easier in any way. Sin so easily entangles, and attempts to pull us down. Need to more often pray through the Armor of God passage of Ephesians 6. Paul's letter to the Church in Ephesis could be a mandate for today (like the rest of the Bible, it's the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!). I find the words of Paul in Romans chapter 7 (as linked to the title above) so speaking for me in a sense, especially because I know better. Temptation is hard sometimes to resist, and it further disgusts me after I fall into the deception and see with 20/20 vision the exit "ramps" I could have taken from the expressway I was "driving". I am so weak, yet He is strong, and His strength is made perfect in my weakness. (but why do I continue to fail?)

Can you relate? Where is your walk taking you?

My prayer with this blog is that you would learn from what God has been pummelling me with as I explain it, or expand it; and by that learning you would grow in your relationship with Him. It's not about an image we prop up for society's sake, or man's religion, but a RELATIONSHIP. He is yearning that WE choose to have and nurture with Him. Our faithfulness and obedience is everything. I am far from perfect and in no possible way a keeper of all His commands (by the way, they are commandments to us to protect us because He Loves US) but lean on His arms, and try to live by Hs word, as He calls me homeward. I've received a new lappytop from my most awesome employer to replace the not-so-Dell-icious craptop I've been using for the last year and so many months. It's a Compaq, and nothing really to write home about, but brand-spankola new! Anyhoot getting back to the post-reason. I was adding extensions to my Firefox and found this killer app called StumbleUpon amongst others (and the extension-frenzy is what makes Foxy so much better than IE!) If you occasionally find yourself bored while internetted, this freebie is the bomb. I found THIS killer toy whilst stumblin' along. We've been finishing up our Men's Fraternity study and revealing our "manhood plans" that we had been working on through0ut the 16-weeks of material we covered. My buddy Ben, in his, stated in his "plan" that he'd rather not be like a Vampire Christian and only get enough of Christ's blood in order to be granted entrance into Heaven, but rather have a full-transfusion. Wow. FULL TRANSFUSION. To be living every-breath in a manner that might bring Him glory, the glory He so justly deserves. Every thought and action, every breath. Considering that He gave us LIFE in HIM by His sacrifice at the cross, this shouldn't be hard to do when we compare the difference. Nights filled with incredible sleep and wild adventurous dreaming is what they are filled with, those kind of nights you can't imagine having slept any better. You parents know what I'm talking about right. And for those who haven't yet discovered the joys of child-bearing, you are in for the most fun ever in those first nights at home.
Days seem to not end soon enough on those first few nights. If you have an important task to conquer, (say driving home from Santa Fe at 4:30pm), you'll find yourself downing the redbull to stay awake/alert even if you hate the stuff. Coffee, Mountain Dew, etc. are found to be very helpful as all you can think about is that nap you missed. Slogging onwards through the mire of things you'd rather not be doing.

Not that this cutie has any blame in the game, but now am experiencing what fiends of mine (or is that Friends?) said would happen. For the record, I will put forth the opinion that after going through what I've gone through thus far in this child's arrival, I rather like the feeling of 4 hours of sleep now much better than when my wife and child were still in the hospital. Happy (sleepless) they are safe at home. It's been a tremendous trial, a "priviledge" to Trust God through. From last Friday morning @ 1am through today, what an adventure. Hopefully, if you are adding to your family anytime in the future, or anticipating a drastic change in your life, your experience is less a rollercoater of ups and downs then up again. Or, as i dwell on that, I pray you do experience a trial to Trust Him more through. Please understand me here. I thought at first how mean-spirited it seemed to hear my father-in-law tell us he was praying for trials in our relationship. But when it gets down to it, trials are there to shape us into a better instrument for God to use as He pleases in the world. God yearns for us to be in fellowship with Him, it's what He created us for, and to think our will concerning our circumstances should take precedence over what He has in store for us is outrageous. As my prior few posts regarding Trusting and Obeying Him has stated, it's about HIM, not us, and what HE wants for us, not based at anytime on how we feel. Of course I'm not purposefully asking that He let trials and struggles into your life simply for the pain and horror of it, but however faint we may hope they are, they should be opportunity for us to CLING to HIM and His promises to us. He loves us more than we could ever understand, and that's something we need to understand.

"What can we say about such wonderful things as these?
If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Since God did not spare even his own Son
but gave him up for us all,
won't God, who gave us Christ,
also give us everything else?
Romans 8:31-32

Gosh it's great to be a dad. What a wonderful gift, this new life to serve and raise up to understand God's purposes for him, my sweet Asher James.

ASHER's HERE!

sleeping with his Poppa!

Born 3/25/06 @ 7:09am, 8lbs, 2oz. 20.5"

Trusting God

With all the stuff that we experience, problems we face, and victories that seem unattainable, it's not easy sometimes to trust God. There are some really tough things that we must work through, that seem to make no sense at all (as to why "it" happened), and "when" it will get better. Not unlike yourself, I've experienced some killer ordeals, and have also in those trials found it hard to trust God at times. But from those experiences I can say with absolute sincerity trusting God is worth it. I don't want to or mean to get flip about it, I know it's hard. Life is hard-but the reward to a life of Faithfullness is worth it, it pays dividends well ahead of our eternity with Christ. That means taking the hard with the good, and understanding His purpose in events He allows to happen are Good and for our "better-ment". (a related post sometime in the future will discuss the theory I hold on the Curses and Blessing cycle, as evidenced in Romans.)

As I've read thus far what I've written, I feel it's pertinant to remind us HE GAVE US HIS SON, how can we forget how much He loves us? I'm sure we all have things in our past that we've dealt with that showed us the benefit of trusting Him. Profound now my circumstances: I'm trusting Him to bring Mini-Dixon (my/our first child) soon as a healthy and happy (ultimately) child of God, and that Jessica will go through her first labor-experience without worse-case-scenario ever coming close to reality. This is something my past trials have "geared"me up for as I have the faith He is not going to cause/allow anything bad to happen; yet in that, if He does allow something to happen that is not what we're hoping for I can trust He's doing something with it, for my closer-growth with Him. Everything has a Purpose, Pastor Warren's spelled it out pretty clearly in his book Purpose Driven Life and related texts.
There is ample scripture to support Trusting HIM, I'll link it in another post. For now, one verse on this subject:

"Humble yourselves, therefore,
under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you at the proper time,
casting all your anxiety upon Him,
because He cares for you."
~1st Peter 5:6-7

"Trust and Obey,
for there's no other way
to be Happy in Jesus..."

~e

Obedience

This weekend our friends Sara and Justin gave a presentation on their recent missionary trip to the Far East. They had spent the last 2 years "somewhere" over there, and talked about what their core-mission was while there: teaching obedience to God's Word.
As I've spent the last day-or-so pondering this, I've found it interesting the simple obedience idea that gets fogged-over or forgotton as we go about our lives, supposedly "doing His work", and fail to obey Scripture in even the littlest of things. Are we truthful all the time? Are we honest and upright when it comes to office-supplies that make it home with us "cause they won't miss them"? The fact we're driving over the speed-limit far more often than we should, those cameras in the school-zones be darned? I am not above reproach here, as I'm speaking from my own past and present experiences. If you're convicted, great, what are you going to do about it? Get mad and post a harsh reply? I'd rather you ask for His strength and wisdom as you go about your day, and ask for forgiveness as you confess the error of your ways and seek to avoid temptation by His power.
The "stickler" for me as I dwell on this obedience topic, is: what am I doing that supports my response to Jesus' commission of me, His ambassador to my circle of influence? Am I showing love to all, praying for my enemies, looking for His hand at work so that I may join Him and be His voice?

Back again...

Wow, talk about taking a breather. Didn't mean to let you, my faithful-few, go without something new from me. I've been in a bit of a slump, and haven't been as up-to-speed in a variety of categories that are more weighty than this measly blog. So I know it's not a big deal to most, but when I surf to blogs I usually give a few minutes each day and find nothing new, it bugs. Lotsa 'links for you!

Hello, happily, but not fully contented I sit here in my hotel room. I've dinner to attend to a mere 100yds away by foot, and am pleasently suprised to find a Cat-5 cable ready for my laptop. 100mbps is very-nice, and seem's I'm the only one using it as my pages are loading whip-smart fast. Fully contented would be having my sweet wife along, or not being away at all. With our first child due in 3 weeks or so, I'm trying to get all my travel out of the way prior. On the road like crazy lately, Portales last Friday/Saturday, this weeks trip, then next week to the opposite corner of my territory.
This week's trip started yesterday in Albq. around noon on this trip to the NW portion of my territory. Yesterday met with one account @4pm, then got checked in and walked up to Steamworks for dinner. Durango is a neat little town, and my meal last night was phenom! Cajun Penne Pasta with a Pint of Backside Stout. Nice nitrogen smooth to cool off the way-cajun spicy fud. Wish I had my camera with me to show you how delicious it looked. This morning was French toast at Carver's Brewing. Yes, another brewery, but they serve a fine breakfast sans alcohol, and after walking up and down the downtown area of Durango my last trip here, I knew it was the place to get great b-fast grinds prior to a full day of adventure. After that, met with a few accounts today, made some breakthrough negotiations, and drove my Vanna over Wolf Creek Pass. Stopped to take some pictures, so eventually you can see how beautiful it was. If you don't ever get up here, or have yet to, you really should. It's so wonderfully beautiful. You could either cruise up 550 to Durango, then across hwy 160 East up and over the pass, then drop down into South Fork, Monte Vista, then Alamosa. Of course if you'd rather hit it from I-25, Just follow hwy 160 West from Walsenburg, CO.

Praise God I'm safe at my hotel, and now that I'm stationary I'm feeling really tired. It's hit: the drive, the appointments, the beauty of this more-favored sub-territory of mine. I'm currently listening to an Agatha Christie Mystery, as I drive after listening to Peretti's Visitation. Eventually I'll listen to the rest of the Chronicles, (I've the Dawn Treader next, after enjoying Prince Caspian), but for now am content with the fine offerings I have on loan from my local library. Books on CD are a real blessing on long drives, as you can allow your imagination to take flight while concentrating on the really important part, driving. Man I'm tired! Here's the dinnerspot, I'm off to it so I can get me some "shut-eye" a tad earlier than last night. Yaaah! and tomorrow Homeward!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://nemafe.blogspot.com/2006/03/whew-what-day-lotsa-links-for-you.html' title='Whew, what a day! I should be doing my rounds in Amarillo right now, but find myself instead here, at home, wishing my head would clear of this ickyness so I can think straight. Nothing holds my interest for very long, and unhappy is the man. Please Lord, take this cold and all it's icky symptoms away!
I seem to be getting better, Saturday was day 1, and slept mostly all day, with horizontally-magnetized-to-pillow-head feelings, uncomfortable tummy in all my unfavorite ways, in additon to the symptoms described above. Sunday was better, not quite as "magnetized" but way-drifty and still stomach unhappiness. Yesterday, darn it I still wasn't good to go, and had to cancel appointments I had in Texas, yet the tummy-discomfort was ending, and today just plain hoovers as described above. I've been busy lately. I wish I had my schedule screwed-tight so I could spend more time with the things I'd rather be doing. I was thinking about this very blog last night, as I was getting ready to sleep, and how I haven't been posting as much as I'd like lately. I've been battling a cold for the past week, so that's got my switches crossed, tough to just get work done prior to crashing for a nap.

On the interesting side, I did take a peek at what's possibly my next phone. I'm kinda skeptical though about when the EVDO network will be available here in my territory. Some people say this summer, others 2 years from now. And of course, the 4th gen of cellphone/pda's are right around the corner (as in 1st quarter 2006).

That's all for now. Hopeful to post something for you soon, and being that I don't do a technorati or other sitemeter systems with this blog, your comments help me rate if anyone even reads my silly posts!

Cool site for you non-locals

Hello Friend!
Been sick (headcold) these last 36 hours, and its no picnic. Simple as that. Some meditation of the Word, some prayer, quality-time with the Creator, nothing beats it. I've had a better day today than most, despite being on the road for a greater portion of my time than the time spent with accounts. While I didn't get to see as many accounts, those I was able to spend time with made it worth it. Praise the Lord! Had a great convo with my brother Steve, even had a nice time talking with John and other accounts of mine, so not all of the car-time was wasted.
Kinda bummed I can't get the Lobo game whilst in Deming. Oh well, I suppose I'll read about it tomorrow or catch sportscenter later.
Check THIS out, it's quite funny although kinda long, so click HERE if you didn't hit the "THIS" already. I've been a busy-bee the last couple of weeks, and it's wearing me out! I could use another weekend at Tanque Verde the way things have been going. Last week it was Albq to Farmington NM to Durango to Alamosa and then back to Albq. Today I started again in Albq but went to Portales and am now in Roswell NM for the night. Tomorrow brings me to Alamagordo, Las Cruces, and then Deming. Last day of this jaunt takes me from Deming thru Silver City, Belen, Los Lunas, then back home. It's an effort to get my travel out prior to my first child's arrival, and am hoping/praying the visits I make to my accounts is worth my time doing so. I'd love to post more, but am swamped, and don't have any cool pictures to upload to here for you to set you glazzies on from the past few weeks adventures. I'm sure you'd understand that I had no real interest (even if I had ability) to post while away at a sales meeting my employer had HERE. Talk about away from it all! So nice, so calm, so relaxing, even with a few days dedicated to meetings and such. With my wife being 6 months along in our first pregnancy a lot of the activities were not things we could do together, but nonetheless on a small breakfast ride I bonded a wee-bit with my "stallion" Beavis and could understand the young girls desire to have a pony. I don't think I'd of had such an experience anytime soon, so if you're looking for a great get-away with lots of horseback-riding and 2 nice pools to relax by, this is it. Our instructer pointed this out right up front because the passages we were to study took issue with the Christian's walk with the Lord. Our main text was Philipians 3:7-4:1. To summerize what this lesson hit on is simple: Becoming a Christian isn't just a fire escape, it's a way of life. A way of life that's infinately better than anything we could ever dream of living by our own strength/power. God has done fantastic things for us in our redemption from the sin "that so easily entangles" . Maturation of a believer is critical to their walk with God. You can't even begin to imagine the life He has in-store for you if you don't move on to the "solid foods" from the milk of our infancy in Him as new-believers. It's easy and cost-free to believe and be saved from the perils of eternity without God. But just as it's a sorrowful shame to have a baby that never grows up, and is consistantly just that - a baby- so is it a new Christian that never moves on from milk to solid food.
After reading and taking stock of what this passage involves, one thing jumps out at me as a theme of most of it. The words Paul uses here are of the Thinking sort, especially when you count the verbs. The passage is ripe with active purpose that we as believers should take to heart and mind. Just as we are to put on the armor in Paul's letter to those in Ephesus, we should run the race in order to win the prize!

Did you see the luminarias?

Christmas Eve is a special time. In my household it's a tradition to do Luminarias down at my Father-in-law's place in Peralta, NM. Due to my magnificent lazy-factor at this time/moment, I'm not going to post my own photo gallery here but link you to this one. Matt is a chum o' mine that has been excellent photography the last few years, and has joined us the last few as well with our Christmas Eve tradition helping with the "duty" that comes with it. Enjoy!

Reseach, Oh research...

So I'm somewhat of an analytic, I'll admit it. When it comes to spending any amount of money for a product or service, some things I cannot simply "buy" and therefore spend a wee-bit more time thinking through and analyzing prior to selecting the "winner" of my scrutinized processes. One example of this was in an effort to properly spend $75 on a jacket for winter-cycling. I spent (probably) a 3-week timeframe to find this jackets predesessor the winner. So now I'm thinking about Tablet-PC's. This model catches my eye, as it was suggested by a friend to be ideal for my line of work. Still going to ponder other models/mfg'rs as well so I'm nowhere near the end of my hunt. Cnet kinda liked it, reviewed here, so it's in the running "fer-sure".
Other things I've researched and analyzed way-too-much? Here's some speakers, a nice receiver, and the car I currently drive.

Your comments are appreciated, go for it!

New Year, HAPPY!

Wow! I mean not to pause in posts a whole week, and give you nothing new to consider from my posts. The last week has been incredible and busy, and I hope yours has been also incredible and less on the busy as busy doesn't allow for the complete "surrender-ness" to the season. Christmas doesn't simply mean rush-rush-rush and get-get-get (as far as gifts exchanging), but it's a time to reflect on the Gift of Christ, and the blessings that follow when we adhere to his teachings.
Blessings? Sure! If nothing else you easily can realize your sight would not be possible to read this line if not for His work in you! This line of thinking/writing has a whole sermon or two in it, so I'll not sermonize here.
For your reading/consideration I'll try to post every day or so and not give such pause as I've done this past week. As you have maybe had a week off 'tween these two holidays, you can probably understand how my neglect was possible with posts. Knowing there are THOUSANDS (hee-hee) that read this daily, I'm sorry to let ya down, and promise to do a better job next time.

"Breath deep then release..."

If you've never sampled the art of "touch" beyond the standard buff-and-fluff massage, you don't know what's good for you. Today was a therapy day with the better-half (my sweetie-wife), and boy don't it hurt so good! Massage in a therapeudic application can do wonders, much like a chiropractor's adjustment. If you don't already subscribe to the notion, and are often muscle/structurally achy from sports, or suffer something as mundane as sitting/walking with poor-posture, massage therapy is your fix, especially trigger-point work. When your therapist is knowledgeable about essential-oils, and uses them in conjunction with the rub, then you've really scored! If our therapist wasn't slammed with clients, I'd hook you up if you were in Abq and interested. Otherwise, here is a place that is very reasonably-priced for a professional. We used to be clients of theirs, but when our therapist left we followed her. I do know of a few still there though, if you want a reference.

Shopping-Frenzy faltering?

It's amazing what purchasing-fervor the holidays induce. I just left the mall happy to get in and out without a huge-chunk of time taken, like a seek-and-purchase "mission" where time was precious. There were lines out the proverbial "window" and amazing some of the clerks were amazingly accomodating, and no fights were breaking out.
The whole morning I've been thinking about what Pastor Coy said in this morning's broadcast.
He began his message by describing how a mouse can run himself on a wheel in his cage. He can run, and run, and run some more, going increasingly faster, until he finds himself rotating with the wheel. Have you ever felt that way? I know it's particularily unwelcome as the frenzy of shopping comes to a climax in the few-days before Christmas. I know I've felt it. What Pastor Bob continues into is what has been cycling around in my brain since I heard him this morning (6:30am in Albq 107.1 fm). With this intro to his message he hints at the truth to the date of Christ's birth, but more importantly how we view our Savior and the God we serve the other 364 days of the year. "...Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33) Pastor Coy went on to get to the nuts 'n bolts and in the basis of "seek first" of that verse, and it meant with out any equal or competition of any kind. Totally devoted to the objective of seeking His all for us, IN HIM.
"How many observe Christ's birthday!
How Few His precepts!
Tis easier to keep holidays than commandments"
~ Benjamin Franklin

Happy Winter!

Hello Dear one, Thanks for stopping by. I'm in the midst of installing the surround speakers into my living room, and glad to be at least 1/2 way there, and as my cheap cordless drill needed to recharge it's battery I figured I'd post something. It'll be nice when I'm done with this task, and the wiring isn't as obvious as it is now. 7.1 is nice, with the size of the task I'm still paying for it.
Today is Winter Solstice, the shortest "day" of the year. The kind of day we all seem to wish for when everthing seems to be going wrong and we wish the day would simply end or start over. Where ever you are as you read, I wish you a pleasant winter. I feel for those who cannot depend on the mass-transit system in NY with Christmas right around the corner. I can't take sides on the strike, but what a bummer, as their winter has definately begun.

Movies of late...

Being a Media Arts Grad I've seen a lot of films. Definately top-shelf, and worth owning when it comes available.

Netflix delivered Elvis Has Left the Building over the weekend, rate it 1.5 stars out of 5. I had to see the finished work. No wonder it didn't get released (to my knowledge) even in a small market, that movie hoover'ed. Some nice work by the real star of the show, ALBUQUERQUE posing as various locales, but the script really didn't get helped at all by John Corbett, Kim Basinger, et. all. I worked on this film a few years back when it was being shot, and even then I had an idea it wasn't going to work. I love Joel Zwick's directing method, he's really cool, Corbett's kinda strange, and Denise Richards was hot, but it didn't look like a winner after a sneak-peak at some of the script while on set. Suspect Zero Was also a movie I worked on, but it wasn't this bad. as for EHLTB, skip it, unless you must see Corbett in an Elvis suit for a split-second.

I'm eager to finish La Dolce Vita Found this 1960 Federico Fellini "masterpiece" (so said the box) at the local library for check-out. DVD's at the library rock. Can't beat it, (free!) and they often have classics that'd be hard to find at Block-and-a-half-of-old-"new"-releases-party. The library even have my favorite of the Italian Neo-Realism genre The Bicycle Thief. I highly reccommend it, simply beautiful, but be prepared for a tear or two during the course of viewing.

Ponder-ables...

It's really amazing to look into scripture and feel it's speaking right into you. We finished up our study in the book of Romans today with the last half of chapter 16. Of today's study verses 18, 19, 20 were intriguing. To think that our obedience to scripture would make Paul proud of us is very humbling, and convicting at the same time. Do you feel he'd be proud of you? Then as the verse continues, the striking part about being wise in what is good, and innocent in what is evil really cause me to think of how I used to (and still catch myself doing it from time to time) brag about the evil I know, the evil I should be innocent of. Troubling thoughts arise when one contemplates how much one wishes they didn't know, as they strive to live and be pure as He is pure, and truly obedient to His calling.
Verse 18 puts it in the clear for me, and to you I simply ask: whose slave are you? Dylan wrote/sang about what I'm thinking about. This interpretation or direction I've taken here with regards to this verse is quite different from the passage context, and is another totally-different line of thinking. Impressed on me sometimes is the overwhelming desire to ask just that, "where you at?" in a sense, and the lines sometimes blur between different ideas I'm currently divulging. (sorry 'bout that!)
Getting back to the passage then, to think it's OUR feet that our enemy will be under, as 20 states. Interesting, very much so. That verse is something that needs more "chewing".

Incredible stuff...

I was perusing my usual suspects this morning, prior to getting it together for the rest of the day and found a few posts that really made an impact on me.
